Who is Persephone?
Persephone is the daughter of Zeus. She is the goddess of agriculture and brings life to the earth. Hades, the underworld’s king, kidnapped Persephone. He brought her to the underworld, forcing her to be his bride. Which, in turn, made her the queen of the underworld.
Thus, In her absence, the earth fell into famine. While in the underworld, She eats a single seed from pomegranate fruit. This action makes it impossible for her to ever leave the underworld completely. Despite her father Zeus demanding her complete return.
Every fall, the goddess Persephone must return to the underworld. Here she will spend the next four months. Likewise, her departure forces the earth to grow cold, darken and plant life to die. Yet, in the spring, she returns, and with her comes fresh new life.
The back cover features a delicate peek at Persephone portrayed by Jae Blanding. Photographer Shana Feeley uses symbols related to the goddess to illustrate the narrative.

Moreover, This release takes you on a journey through different versions of Persephone. She is the goddess that continues the eternal cycle of nature’s death and rebirth. This lends to creations of both light and dark work.
